I love Italians

A young woman on a public beach in Anzio is sunbathing topless and applying sun-cream. Another woman objects (apparently, her 12 and 14-year-old sons were 'troubled' by the sight - I'll bet they were) and calls the police. The police turn up and the sunbathing woman argues with them, still topless, to the amusement of everyone around.

Choice quotes are from the sunbathing woman's lawyer:

Let's be clear my client is tall, brunette and has an ample breast and is therefore going to naturally be sensuous when she applies cream to her chest.

And from a police spokesman:

We have opened a file on committing an obscene act as we are committed to following the complaint. From what I heard she was very attractive.

Only in Italy would a policeman give a personal assessment of a woman's attractiveness as part of a public press release.

I love 'em all.

  1. Italians! We were having a mid morning coffee in a little square in Liguria - there were lots of old gentlemen sitting round the square reading papers, chatting, drinking coffee. A stunning, beautifully dressed young lady walked into the square heading for a road diagonally across. As the old gentlemen looked up and noticed her they started to gently clap their appreciation. By the time she had got halfway most of the the old men had joined in and kept up the applause until she disappeared. She just tossed her head as she left the squaare - and I think I spotted the hint of a smile. Wouldn't happen in Corby.

  2. Derf: It used to happen in Derby on the shop floor whenever a fine female used to walk through...spanners applauding on expensive German machine tools if I recall correctly. I never saw any head tossing or a hint of a smile tho'.

  3. Derf, How much more civilised, and dignified for both parties, than the wolf-whistle I remember from my youth, or the 'get em out for the lads' of today. Polite applause - how appropriate. The Italians have a realistic underestanding of human nature. Bet Harriet Harman wouldn't approve.

Nikos: so you guys used to bang your tools with spanners? No wonder there was no tossing.

    Fnarr.
