St George's Day

The Welsh make a huge fuss about St David's Day (and rightly so), so why does it seem almost an act of rebellion to celebrate St George's Day? I suppose it's because someone, somewhere, is going to be offended by it. Well, good. If the simple act of displaying a flag offends you, then you deserve to be offended.

Here is my country's flag. It's not racist; it is not intended to oppress or humiliate; it is not arrogant or violent. It is the flag of my country.

To all my English readers, Happy St George's Day.

And I happen to know that today is the birthday of someone who reads this blog from time to time. If he reads this, Happy Birthday, you rancid old git.
