BMW F650GS, 2004

A spanking good deal, which I will relate in a later post.  There's been a lot of bike-thinkery going on round here in the last few weeks, and this is the result.  I am very pleased with it.  More anon.

  1. yEE hAH - Welcome to the BMW Chain gang!

We had a super ride on our 650GS on Saturday through the German Swiss Alps to Thunder mountain courtesy of my Brother in law - even managed a ton on the way back 2 up! (legal on Autobahns naturally). This bike is frowing on me especially as it does 70+mpg.

    1. You never said you had one of these! Mind you, I don't think the idea had crossed my mind when we last spoke. We must organise an international 650GS coffee morning :)

    2. Strictly speaking I bought it for Mrs N, and she rode it......once.

  2. XX legal on Autobahns naturally XX

Only partly...VERY partly. Try it on the Berlin ring, or 90% of other Autobahns, and see how fast the wee green meany wipes his arse with your riding licence before ripping it into little pieces.

    2. I can assure you, it does NOT stand up as a defence, "at the road side" and will get you an even HIGHER fine and points if used in court as such.

  3. Pretty nice looking ride you found there.

I like the black with red seat combination.

    1. Thank you! Have to say I find it quite handsome, and that's from someone who never liked the look of the GS Beemers one little bit. Red seat may be gone soon in favour of a higher option. It's very l-o-w for a six footer.

  4. Richard, that's a good looking machine. I love the 650, and so does my father-in-law, who has basically been swayed into buying a GS of his own (some day) after a bit of saddle time on mine. Enjoy the hell out of that thing, it's a fantastic machine.

  5. The mighty Rotax. I think I preferred the single to the new 800 series, in the GS format anyway.

    1. A little more poke wouldn't hurt - but if it comes with CANbus, I will stick with the 650.

    1. Thank you! These things do seem to inspire loyalty. So far the Yam isn't sulking.
