Derf: sorry 'bout that. Perhaps now is the time to tackle one of those major novels you have always said you would read one day. War and Peace, or Five Go Lapdancing, or something.
Trob: they're not mutually exclusive. At the moment, I am busy and bored. The work I am doing at the moment is not very stimulating. My employers sacked half the team, and now they are asking us to come in and work extra shifts to keep the business going. I've just done ten 12-hour days straight, and I am losing the will to live :)
Joe: no danger of that - there's lots to write about. I'd admit to Wanker's Cramp, but I haven't got time for that either.
I guess it would be no consolation if I said I'd just done a similar shift pattern? That could mainly be because it was 10 straight 12-hour days of motorcycling round the sunny parts of France and Spain :-). Still, hope it helps. And I hope they're paying you bucketloads to make up for Derf's period of literary deprivation.
Curiously, that is no consolation at all! Hope you had a great time, and welcome back. Perhaps a trip report, when you get your stuff together?
Pay is in teaspoons rather than buckets, but yes, I have been (or rather will be) paid for the extra hours. However, I have just heard I have been called back in for training on the last of my four days. I think this will be a 'just say no' moment.
Thanks, glad you've also had a good time on your mini-break. I'd be delighted to turn in a write-up: have a bit of free time now, so I'll get on with it!
Excuses, excuses. What are we supposed to read while you are dossing about being 'just f***ing busy'?
ReplyDeleteWell, at least you aren't bored. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd for the past few days, we'd thought you'd got Writer's Block.
